Holy cow, it's been a while! We've been busy little booze-hounds, pinky promise. All in service of moving into the thick of 2024 with a whole new show, newly re-branded Substack, and purpose.

What's New, Pussycat?

Within the next few posts, this Substack is getting a rebrand.

To:

"Wine and..."

This is because we're expanding beyond just comics!

We'll now be including movies, tv, books, and music! And, of course, comics. ALWAYS, there will be comics.

(The video above is a WIP, we’ll soon add music and sound effects and there will be a version where each of the 5 categories winds up in the middle, depending on which we’re covering that episode.)

I was tempted to rebrand to something like "Wine and Media" or "Wine and Entertainment" but who's to say this will be the last expansion? Change is the only constant. So I think "Wine and..." allows us the most long-term wiggle room, to continue to grow.

Fun fact: you can only change your Substack URL/subdomain ONCE. And then that’s it. So this is our one big change.

Podcast

1 Episode per Week!

The new, rebranded show will be a full-on podcast, as well as a YouTube channel.

Wherever you subscribe and listen to your podcasts, you'll be able to access the new "Wine and..." - Apple, Spotify, YouTube Music (where Google Podcasts will soon be absorbed into,) Amazon Music, iHeart, SirusXM, you name it, we plan to make sure it's available there.

Livestreams Will Continue

For the time being, we plan to continue doing our comic-themed Livestreams 2-3 times per week, under the Legacy “Wine and Comics Pairing Show” banner. These helped shape our current audience and we love providing the unique venue for comic creators to come talk about thier current crowdfunding campaigns and have their book paired with wines of our choosing.

We have 3 happening this week, in fact!

Our Own Crowdfunded Comic Returns in April!

We came within spitting distance of funding out very first comic, ARMAGEDDONQUEST BOOK ONE back in February, and we're coming back for a second go, with a re-tooled campaign and brand new items to pledge for. Expect original art, prints, stickers, magnets, and more to be avaialble this time around.

Second IN-PERSON Wine and Comics Pairing!

We’ll be back at The Blending Lab in Los Angeles in April, with a whole new trio of comics creators and their books, each paired with a Blending Lab wine! Details coming soon!

Most Importantly: THIS SUBSTACK! Going Paid!

We're going to be turning on the paid subscription options soon, likely in May, June at the latest.

There will still be posts that are free, and some fully free posts. But here's what to expect for paid subscribers:

• Fully unexpurgated, uncut episodes of the podcast. Did you love what we had to say about that movie, book, comic, album? Did you love our specific wine pairings? Would you like to hear the expanded reasoning and even a fuller range of wines we think would make excellent alternatives? And the full convo on the art in question? Paid subscribers, only, yo!

• Ability to vote in polls. Which movies, books, shows, comics, or albuns should we cover next? Which guests should we reach out to? You’ll be able to decide for us!

• Digital copies of the comics we publish! Downloadable via the Substack. Plus maybe a few extras that won’t even be available to crowdfunding backers!

And that’s just to begin. Expect a LOT in the coming weeks. We have taken a breather, prepped, and we are ready to rumble folks.
