I mean anything from Disney is awful in my very opinionated opinion 🤣 I always like a Pinotage, but maybe drink one every 2-3 years outside tasting at work.
To be fair to Disney, when we ate at one of their Epcot Center restaurants (I think Persian or Iranian?) the food and wine there were tremendous. But holy shit did we pay through the nose for that!
I bet you did! I have never liked Disney, it was a forced march because I had homes in Florida my entire life. We went there too often. I don’t do rides and germs (even before I became bubble girl) so naturally I complained the entire time 🤣🫠🫣. I have heard there are some good eats, but oof no thanks on the price tag. We have a place called Cake Bake here, with two locations and they just opened at Disney. Over $20 for a slice of cake thats 80% way too fake butter tasting buttercream. Blows my mind, locals here are so excited about it though and to be fair their lunch and tea service are great.
Just returned from a tasting in Durbanville of eight Pinotages, ranging from a carbonised (very sweet!) pinotage, to a light and enjoyable Method Cap Classique Pinotage, from a lighter style at less than $10, to a heavy and complex $50+ bottle from Bellevue. And with a lovely Pinotage rosé, and a chocolate pairing with a cheap bottle (~$5) in between! Super enjoyable! Such an underrated varietal that deserves more attention 😍
That all sounds lovely! I hate to take your Pinotage from you, but I really want more of it to get out here abroad! I can visit the biggest, most diverse wine shop in Los Angeles and there will be pecisely ONE. I need to get more Americans to start asking for it :P
There's a handful of Cali wineries trying their hand at it, but it's quite rare. There's 52 acres of Pinotage planted throughout the ENTIRE state - to put that into perspective there's 73 arces of Aglianico planted in Paso Robles alone! So you gotta seek it out.

Woohoo! L'Avenir sounds awesome. Eager to try a Cali Pinotage now, wasn't even aware they were being made!

Fat Boy Slim! Now you're talking my era!
Mine, too ;) I wasn't a fan at the time of its release, but it was omnipresent. Kind of the exact inverse of Pinotage!
