I've got lots of love for Spaceman, and Adam Sandler more broadly. I don't much care for his bread-and-butter manchild stuff, but then, he's been mostly transparent about doing that sort of thing so as to support his friends and family financially (often by casting them in the films themselves, Grown Ups etc.). Helps that he's a legitimately great actor when the moment calls for it.
Not a doubt in my mind that the spark left his eye because of Chris Farley's death, too.
He certainly has his own well greased groove in moviedom. And few people do earnest foppery as well as Sandler. I was also surprised by the Uncut Gems performance.
I still need to see Spaceman and Uncut Gems, though I LOVE Sadler in Punch Drunk Love, so I know he can dial it up when he wants to. Maybe your next guest spot will have to be a Sandler high point movie!
I have such mixed feelings, because I've really liked his dramatic roles, but his comedies (particularly the earlier ones) are just rife with all sorts of ugly violence and embarrassing product placement. Grown Ups 2 is maybe the worst movie ever made on Planet Earth.

Que sera, sera! Haha
(in the meantime, queue up The Meyerowitz Stories!)
Good rec!
